Volunteer Reporting System Ready For Use

I’m pleased to announce the new volunteer reporting system is ready for use.  The “Online Reporting” page of the Master Gardener website contains the link to the login page.  There are also downloadable instructions to walk you through the process.

Log In Information
If you had an account in the old system and had logged hours, your login information will remain the same.  You may use your username OR email to log in provided the email address you enter is the one stored in the system.  Don’t worry if you forget your password.  There is a link on the login screen to reset it.

If you didn’t have an account in the old system, or you were assigned one but did not record hours, you will receive an email on Tuesday, September 24.  The email will come from Word Press and will contain your username and a link to set your password.  Be sure to check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see the email.

Mobile Friendly
Logging your hours is now easier than ever. The new system is mobile friendly which means you can even log your hours using your smartphone or other mobile device.

Please use the new system to enter all volunteer and continuing education activities beginning July 1, 2018.

What Happened To My Hours
All of your hours through June 30, 2018 have been pulled into a field in your profile called Historical Hours.  We weren’t able to incorporate the details of these hours into the new system but rest assured you did not “lose” them.  The old reporting system can still be accessed for reference purposes.  Please do NOT enter any new volunteer or continuing education activities in the old system.

Travel Time and Mileage

The SC Master Gardener Program recognizes the importance of your time. Travel time, not to exceed 1 hour per volunteer activity, may be included when reporting a volunteer activity.  Roundtrip mileage should be included with the entry.

  • Example: A MG Volunteer staffs an Ask-A-Master Gardener booth at a garden center for 3 hours.  He drove 12 miles each way which took a total of 30 minutes.  That volunteer would make a single entry using the “Ask A Master Gardener not Farmers Market” sub-category of Educational Service.  The time reported would be 3.5 hours (3 hours of service plus the 30 minutes of travel time) and 24 miles.

*Neither travel time nor mileage may be reported for continuing education.  The fields are grayed-out to prevent accidental entry.
Have Questions
The system allows us to assign some administrative privileges to your Association Administrator.  He or she would be the first person to go to with questions.  If he or she is unable to help you, contact your Master Gardener Coordinator.  I am also available to help your navigate your way through the new system.

We’ve worked hard to create a simple, user-friendly system that will capture and document the work you do. Through the process, the needs of Master Gardener Volunteers, Master Gardener Associations, and Master Gardener Coordinators were taken into account.  I’m sure there will be some hiccups as we begin to use the new system.  Thank you for your patience through the process.
